1. Old Receipts
One receipt takes almost no space.
Twenty of them do.
If you only keep receipts for reference, consider choosing digital receipts where available or storing important physical copies somewhere other than your wallet.
Your wallet doesn’t need to become a permanent archive.
2. Membership Cards You Rarely Use
Coffee shops. Gyms. Retailers. Airlines.
There was a time when joining almost anything meant adding another physical card to your wallet.
Today, many memberships can be stored through an app, Apple Wallet, Google Wallet or another digital alternative.
If you use a card once every few months, it probably doesn’t need to occupy space in your pocket every day.
3. Expired Cards
Old bank cards, expired memberships and access cards you no longer use have a habit of staying in wallets long after they’ve served their purpose.
A quick check every few months can make a surprising difference.
Remove what no longer works, and the cards that matter become easier to access.
4. Too Much Cash
Cash still has its place.
But for many of us, everyday payments have increasingly moved towards cards and phones.
Rather than carrying more notes than you realistically need, consider keeping a small amount for situations where cash is useful.
The point isn’t to eliminate cash.
It’s to carry only what makes sense for you.
5. The “Just in Case” Stuff
An extra membership card. An old business card. A card you can’t quite remember the purpose of.
We often keep things because we might need them someday.
But if something hasn’t been used for months, it might be worth asking:
Does it really need to travel with you every day?
Carry What Matters
A lighter wallet isn’t only about making your pocket feel better.
It’s about being more intentional with what you choose to carry.
To us, minimalism isn’t about owning less for the sake of it.
It’s about removing what doesn’t matter, so there’s room for what does.
That philosophy sits at the heart of how ESSTRIDE approaches everyday carry.
Carry what matters.
Leave behind what doesn’t.
Keep moving forward.
